EasyJet now Flys to GIbraltar !
Visiting Manilva is now 'easier' than ever with Easyjet now flying into Gibraltar ! There are 2 flights every day. Flights start on the 30th March 2008 and tickets are on sale now. Flights in August 2008 are currently being advertised from only 45 Euros (35 pounds) one way including taxes. So your peak season holiday in Manilva is now more affordable than ever !
So, what does this mean for Manilva ?
Currently the best access to Manilva for people travelling from England is Malaga Airport (approx 50 minutes drive away), or some may argue Jerez (70 minutes drive away) is another alternative. Gibraltar has always been an option for people travelling to Manilva but often people are put off by either the flight times or price. EasyJet has solved this problem for us by purchasing British Airways flight routes and combining great flight times with their low cost philosophy. With more visitors finding it easier and cheaper to visit Manilva tourism and attractions in the area will increase.
How does this affect visitors to Manilva ?
Well, in a nutshell your holiday just got cheaper ! Flights are cheaper, transfer costs is cheaper as Gibraltar is only 20 minutes from Manilva and also you will now save valuable travelling time and be in your favourite Manilva Bar or Restaurant a lot quicker !
Whats Next ?
EasyJet remains the leader in low cost carriers in Europe, and where EasyJet leads others follow which means I hope in the future more routes will become available and EasyJet and other low cost airlines will fly to Gibraltar from more European destinations.

Record Winter termperatures in Manilva !
Ok, so its not perfect; Yes we have had more than our fair share of rain this year, but now the storms have passed and the sun is shining like a summers day and the light cool breeze keeps the air fresh and views crystal clear.
Living on the beach means that i am blessed each day with being able to watch the sun rise over the Mediterranean as the local fishing boats return to Duquesa Marina and Sabinillas Beach after a hard mornings work. The sight is stunning and makes each day start like a dream. After listening to the BBC morning news and weather reporting on the UK weather you really realise how lucky you are when you are here in Manilva.
Every Sunday morning i walk along the beach to Sabinillas and enjoy breathtaking scenery, miles of beautiful sandy beaches and listen to the waves lap against the shore. My favourite place for coffee in the mornings i Cafe Miel on Sabinillas promenade. The chairs are comfortable, the scenery terrific and you cant resist the mouthwatering delicacies they serve. The only problem is getting there early enough to get a table ! The owners are Belgium and i think we all know about how fantastic Belgium chocolate and cakes are!
Tourism as in any popular destination descends on Manilva in the Summer months. However winter here can be easily overlooked when in actual fact the temperatures are over 20'c, there are blue skies and a pleasant relaxed and understated ambiance to Manilva. If you want to escape the cold, dark UK winters rental accommodation in Manilva is well priced and you will be refreshed and uplifted after enjoying the winter sunshine and best of Mediterranean living here in Manilva.

Visiting Manilva during Christmas ?
If you are planning a trip to Manilva this Christmas then you are guaranteed to have a wonderful time ! The Christmas decorations fill the high streets and roundabouts, the bars and restaurants are preparing for the Christmas parties and the Shopping centres are full to the brim with eager shoppers buying their last minute gifts.
What many people may not realise is that the Spanish hold great celebrations for the Three Kings day which marks the last day of Christmas on the 6th January. Three Kings Day (Día de los Reyes) is a Christian celebration that commemorates the Biblical story of the three kings who followed the star of Bethlehem to bring gifts to the Christ child. According to the Biblical story, the Three Kings – named Melchior, Caspar and Balthazar – presented the Baby Jesus with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. In Manilva this is marked by a street parade of floats each carrying the a king. The floats and a procession of street performers and musicians commence the parade at Castillo de la Duquesa at about 6pm then proceed to Sabinillas and the parade ends in Manilva Village The enjoyment and focus of this parade as with most events in Manilva is families and children. The street entertainers throw sweets into the street for children throughout the parade. Over 2 tonnes of sweets will be given to onlookers this year ! This does come with a health and safety warning of sweets flying at your from all angles ! Joking apart this event is truly wonderful and it is a superb time for friends and family to spend together in addition to the more traditionally celebrated days in the UK.
See you there !

Winter has Arrived !
Here in Manilva as soon as the temperature drops below 15'c we don our woolies and declare winter has arrived ! This very short period of 'winter' usually lasts a maximum of 4 to 5 day spells and its at this time when the British tourists stand out like a sore thumb. The average tourist would still find themselves a sun trap and sunbathe, wear sun shades and would most definately not be seen dead in a jacket or scarf as that would simply admit defeat ! Welll lets face it when you see the weather in the UK, comparatively its like summer her in Manilva !
The beauty of this time of year is that you can enjoy the brisk sea breeze as you walk along Sabinillas Promenade and listen to the waves crash against the shore. Manilva Village is also an excellent viewpoint to admire the stunning coastline as the clouds close in and the dark clouds loom threateningly.
So, lets not dwell on our 'winter' for before long the familiar blue skies will reign, golf courses will fill and we can enjoy our Mediterranean oasis to the full.........

With temperatures above 20'c, bright blue skies and a calm mediterranean sea you will be forgiven for not feeling too "christmassy". However the Manilva town council have now put up superb Christmas decorations which can be viewed on www.visitmanilva.com in the photo gallery
For most of us; Manilva is a truly refreshing environment in which to enjoy Christmas. The 'commercial Christmas' that the majority of people have to now endure in other parts of the world is virtually non-existant. Instead, Christmas is how it should be; reflective, a time to enjoy being with friends, family and loved ones and a time of giving. The real advantage of Christmas in Manilva is that you can spend this wonderful time on one of our areas stunning beaches !
I personally am going to enjoy Christmas with my parents in one of my favourite places which is within 25 mintues drive of Manilva; Jimena de la Frontera. So for those of you visiting Manilva over the festive period check out www.VisitManilva.com restaurtant guide and enjoy the beautiful weather we are enjoying here in sunny spain !
